01The challenge
A college website carries an enormous amount of structure: administration, 15 departments, programmes, IQAC/NAAC documentation, notices, events, committees and policies. Most college sites become a maze of PDFs.
It had to serve students and parents in English and Telugu, work well on phones, stay accessible, and be maintainable by college staff without a developer.
02Approach
Deep IA, simple surface
Organised About, Administration, Academics, 15 departments, Career & JKC, Student Services, IQAC/NAAC, Alumni, Infrastructure, Research, Media and NCC into a clear mega-navigation.
Warm, local visual identity
A warm cream base with marigold, orange, deep teal and maroon/gold, and bold condensed headlines that feel confident and rooted.
CMS for the people who run it
An admin CMS for menus, banners, homepage ordering, departments and faculty, programmes, events, gallery uploads, committees, policies with versions and a translation queue.
Build it, ship it
Developed on Laravel with MySQL, Blade, Bootstrap 5.3 and Alpine/Livewire, and deployed live.
03What I did
- Information architecture for a deep institutional site, plus sitemap and an accessibility page
- Bilingual English/Telugu interface with a translation queue in the CMS
- Notices and events, photo and video gallery, grievance redressal, fee payment link and alumni registration
- Online admissions with applicant accounts and student and parent portals
- IQAC/NAAC document repository and policies with versions
- Admin CMS so college staff can manage content, ordering and uploads themselves
04Key design decisions
Language switch in the header
EN / Telugu sits next to the primary actions, so parents can switch language before they read anything.
Admissions as the hero action
‘Apply now’ is present in the header and hero; the admissions page explains that an online submission is not a confirmation until approved.
Departments as scannable cards
Departments are grouped (languages, sciences, humanities and social sciences) with icons and faculty counts instead of a long list.
Documents with versions
Policies and IQAC/NAAC documents are versioned in the CMS, so the public always sees the current file and history is kept.

06Outcome
The site is live at amal.sriniji.in, with the public website, CMS, admissions and portals designed and developed by me end to end.
